Humble Pie – West Cork is the brainchild of Samantha Duffy, a native of Keighley, Yorkshire but with family connections in Cork. Although from a teaching background Samantha always had a grá for entertaining and cooking and has followed her dream of moving to West Cork and opening her own pie and cake shop. Her business plan was thoroughly researched from the outset and despite opening in the middle of a pandemic the business is fast building an enviable reputation for itself. Humble Pie is a family affair for although Samantha is at the helm her mother and husband are fully behind her and help out where needed.
The British are known for their love of good pies and baking. Samantha has brought this to her premises and the trade has just taken off. A variety of savoury and sweet pies are available with tasty fillings in a delicate light pastry. Jacket potatoes, hot dogs and homemade soups are also offered. Samantha tries to follow the seasons with her baking for the fullest and freshest of flavours, she is also a committed supporter of local food suppliers and producers.
Samantha has found that the locals just love their cake. Although she has individual cakes and pastries in the shop she was surprised to be asked for whole cakes and now finds herself baking for birthdays, christenings, communions and other celebrations. The staple apple tart is also popular and these too can be baked to order.

Humble Pie enjoys a strong local trade from teachers, students of the nearby schools, office workers and people living alone who do not want the bother of cooking. The excellent produce from Humble Pie comes at the keenest of prices and represents great value and flavour. College Road leads to a local car park so there is ample free parking adjacent to Humble Pie.
Samantha’s menu includes a number of meal deals, these represent great value and are extremely popular, they are also nutritious and satisfying.
Samantha is a bubbly and friendly individual but driven and totally committed to her business venture. She was warned that it might take some time to get established in West Cork however her enthusiasm and strong motivation has meant that the fledgling business has proved very successful even against the fallout from the Covid 19 pandemic and will continue to flourish and expand.
