In another life Tony Speight was an engineer by profession, who had a love of good coffee. The passion for coffee has flourished into West Cork Coffee, a successful business, supplying artisan roasted coffee beans, under the branding of WCC, to some of Cork’s best loved cafes and restaurants.
In conjunction with the The Brew Bar at Grey Heron in Bandon, serious coffee drinkers can enjoy an artisan coffee along with a sweet treat from a range of local producers. The Brew Bar is also the venue for classes held by Tony for aspiring baristas.
When Tony hand built his first coffee roaster in 2004, he could not have realised the transformation he would undergo from a discerning coffee drinker into a seriously knowledgeable, artisan coffee roaster, which would form the foundation for what would become West Cork’s first commercial coffee roastery in 2016.
WCC has grown organically and Tony’s artisan coffee began to gain the attention of a small number of local food businesses with an appreciation of excellent coffee.
As Tony’s reputation grew and the business developed rapidly, the speciality coffee roasting was carried on from The Forge, Innishannon, County Cork. The business was selected for the London Coffee Masters 2017/18 and this has assisted Tony to develop his product in the highly competitive speciality coffee market.
West Cork Coffee will provide all the necessary equipment needed for a cafe/restaurant. West Cork Coffee supply espresso machines, grinders, barista equipment & training. Whatever a business needs Tony will endeavour to help in this regard. West Cork Coffee is committed to working with the World Coffee Research Organization by donating a percentage of their green bean costs to help fund essential, innovative research into:
- Increase cup quality.
- Sustain coffee supplies in the short and long term.
- Enhance the livelihoods of coffee producers and their families.
