Bru Lay Honey’s owner Michael O’Sullivan’s grandfather kept bees on the family farm on the Beara peninsula. When Michael was very young he had a passing interest in the bees but did not keep it up. In his teenage years he picked up the interest up again, taking an interest in his environment and nature and gradually turning his hobby into a business now producing the finest honey from nature’s bounty.
Michael’s daughter Kellie helps him out and has a keen interest in beekeeping herself.
For the past few years, Bru Lay Honey has sent their product to the National Agricultural Programme team, School of Biology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Dublin for testing. Michael finally received some good news and it could not be more positive. He is proud to share that the honey is completely pesticide free and organic.
Bru Lay honey may be purchased in Castletownbere at the Wholefood Shop and Supervalu, it is also available in Supervalu Kenmare.
