Sharon O’Driscoll is a skilled and experienced pastry chef and the proprietor of Sharon’s View Bakery. She will be up with the lark, baking everyday, specially for the special times of year Easter and Christmas etc and also supplying a recent business venture Sharon’s View @ Uillinn, adjacent to the West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen, which she runs in conjunction with her daughter Laura.
The bakery in Castlehaven is eco-friendly and powered by solar energy. Apart from the seasonal baking, Sharon also bakes brown soda bread, scones and quiches. Vegans and vegetarians can be catered for but the bakery is not certified as free from gluten.
Sharon also makes a range of chutneys and jams, beautifully presented and using ingredients grown in their polytunnel. Chilli jam, spiced apple, apple and chilli jam, marmalade,beetroot and rhubarb chutneys. These are attractively presented in little baskets and make a thoughtful gift.
Orders can be collected from the bakery or from the cafe in Skibbereen. Sharon also supplies Drinagh Co-op with her home baking as well as a couple of small local shops.
Sharon’s View @ Uillinn is a new venture for this enterprising mother and daughter, which they opened together on 1st September last. Delicious cafe style food is served by friendly and attentive staff. A range of breakfast options is available along with tasty lunch choices from warming soup of the day to bagels, panini and toasties filled with delicious local ingredients.
Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Everything possible is homemade or sourced locally giving an authentic flavour of West Cork.
The cafe is lively and friendly with a great outdoor seating area under canopies.
The display of homemade sweets, cakes and treats is enticing and especially good accompanied by McCabe’s speciality, fair-trade coffee, from their carbon negative coffee roastery in Co Wicklow.
A take away service is available, which is handy for the brisk lunch time trade.
